That was cool!

Last week, my husband and I accompanied our kids in the dentist office. Reinforcement is needed when all of our kids (we have 3) are afraid of the dentist. Our eldest needs to see the cosmetic dentist in Los Angeles next week for a checkup. He might need braces. Thanks for sharing!

- jennaJennahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12919674735861745301noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-150113619623860235.post-34616866173336024222011-02-17T20:31:34.619-08:002011-02-17T20:31:34.619-08:00This comment has been removed by the author.Jennahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12919674735861745301noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-150113619623860235.post-7022166145328596902011-02-11T09:36:26.421-08:002011-02-11T09:36:26.421-08:00Oh I see. Actually I am glad to have such a cool nerdy friend with an equally nerdy husband. Is it possible to be cool and nerdy at the same time? I think so. :)Elysiahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07206188353371406326noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-150113619623860235.post-40239191164915994872011-02-11T07:39:50.160-08:002011-02-11T07:39:50.160-08:00That is the kind of relationship we have, Elysia -...That is the kind of relationship we have, Elysia - nitpicking the small details. We have to seriously work on NOT correcting other people, but we LOVE to receive grammar corrections ourselves. I've even whipped out a grammar book to see which one of us is correct. {Aren't you so glad you have such a cool friend?}lydiahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17582814419411441063noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-150113619623860235.post-77936665738557029562011-02-11T07:33:48.951-08:002011-02-11T07:33:48.951-08:00Ugh. They cleaned Haven's teeth with her sitting on my lap."

The grammar in this sentence is incorrect. Staff can be either singular or plural depending on its use in a sentence. If the staff is acting as a single unit, it receives a singular verb such as in this sentence. If, however, the staff are acting as separate units, they must receive a plural verb.

It is not clear that staff is plural in the first sentence until you begin the next sentence, which begins with they. They refers to staff, which shows you are referring to individuals and not a single group. Therefore, was should be changed to were. It may even be better to say that "the dental staff members at Children's Dentistry were awesome," for this removes all confusion.

Thanks for taking care of our kids in this crazy event! I love you!

Your HusbandAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-150113619623860235.post-68961930325839078312011-02-09T15:06:55.369-08:002011-02-09T15:06:55.369-08:00That is so precious!
